The PIT Count is an essential element in our mission to make homelessness rare and brief, and it presents a great opportunity to raise awareness of the myriad challenges our homeless citizens face, hear personal experiences from those experiencing homelessness, and demonstrate the compassion and generosity of our rural community!

What to expect

Volunteers will conduct surveys of people experiencing homelessness to connect them to services during the count time frame of January 13 - January 26th.

Completion of training is required for all new and retiring volunteers. The training includes information on how to engage vulnerable populations, basic information about the PIT Count, and how to complete surveys via the Counting Us mobile app.

Thanks for your help in ensuring that everyone in our southern Appalachian community counts!
